Madagascar's Capsat military unit announced on Sunday (October 12) it was taking command of the nation's armed forces, a day after joining anti-government protests that have gripped the country since September. President Andry Rajoelina's office said in a statement "an illegal and forceful attempt to seize power" was underway, calling on citizens to "defend constitutional order and national sovereignty."
